Words for anxious women Pt. 2

There is one thing I know with absolute certainty in this world and that is that everybody is looking to feel seen, heard and loved.

Ultimately, the main reason we all seek these things is to feel connected. We want to know that we aren’t alone in what we’re experiencing. We’re seeking unity with those around us, a sense of safety and knowing.

I know this with absolute certainty because on every single occasion I’ve shared thoughts from my anxious mind, I’ve been met with sighs of relief and ‘me too’s’ in return. I’ll see the other person’s shoulders drop and the creases in their temples relax as they finally give themselves permission to speak vulnerability too.

It’s beautiful and it’s sacred and we need more of it.

However, sometimes there aren’t always people at our disposal to share with. Sometimes it’s just us, but that doesn’t mean there can’t still be a beautiful exchange of dialogue.

It’s time like these when I turn to my writing. Myself and my inner voice conversing through words on the page. It’s something that I would encourage you to do too, if you have something to say but no one to say it to.

A few months ago, I shared some of these words with my community. I hadn’t written poetry in a long time but just felt to let it flow. It seemed to resonate with a lot of people and so, I’d love to share some more. I hope they land for you.

Patiently, she watches.

And keeps the pulse of time.

From before the dawn of everything,

Until now, this moment, mine.

Lovingly, she nurtures.

Wanting nothing in return.

I clamber to control it all,

She wonders when I’ll learn.

Thanklessly, she teaches.

She cares not for future deeds.

She is here within the rise and fall.

She knows it’s all I need.

Endlessly, I’m human.

I lose myself in doing.

But then when I remember her,

I feel myself renewing.

Perfectly, she guides me.

She’s love personified.

My anchor and my witness.

In her, I will abide.

My breath is my witness
